Chelsea and Man United in battle to sign 24-year-old Ivorian – report
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to battle for the signature of PSG defender Serge Aurier, say reports
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to go head-to-head for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the two Premier League clubs are set to battle each other in a bid to bring the 24-year-old defender to the Premier League before the close of the transfer window.
The same report says that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is determined to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season and that a new wing-back is his priority.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are said to have been tracking Aurier for some time and could still be successful in bringing him to Old Trafford, according to the report.
The same story says that Aurier could be available for a fee of around £27m this summer as PSG look to offset some of the £198m spent on landing Neymar in a world-record deal from Barcelona last week.
The article says Manchester United are the favourites to land Aurier, but only if he wins his appeal against a two-month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer last year.
Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic so far this summer.
