Journalist replies when asked if Man United are signing top 28-year-old attacker
Manchester United could still yet make a move to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer, says Miguel Delaney
The prospect of Manchester United signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer is still “lingering”, according to journalist Miguel Delaney.
The Red Devils are still thought to be on the lookout for another attacking player this summer as Jose Mourinho prepares for his second season in charge at the club.
Manchester United have already tied up deals to land Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof as they prepare for the new Premier League campaign.
Real Madrid star Bale has been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils as Mourinho looks to further bolster his side ahead of the new season.
However, although Independent journalist Delaney says talk of Bale moving to Old Trafford is still on the cards, he himself feels that a transfer is unlikely.
Delaney was asked by one of his followers on Twitter: “Heard anything about Bale today? Always been a dream signing of mine so excited but sceptical.”
And Delaney replied: “It is still lingering, and there’s talk United have been given new encouragement but I can’t see it now.”
Manchester United are currently preparing to take on Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup on Tuesday night, before turning their attentions towards their Premier League opener at Old Trafford against West Ham United on the following weekend.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season.
