Man United interested in signing world-class 28-year-old attacker – report
Manchester United hold a long-standing interest in Gareth Bale but are unlikely to sign him this summer, say reports
Manchester United have a long-standing interest in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid but a deal is looking increasingly unlikely this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Guardian is reporting that the Red Devils are still keen on luring the Wales international to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his attacking options at the club.
However, the same article states that Bale has been assured of his importance to the team for next season and that he will be staying at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.
There had been suggestions that the 28-year-old Bale could have been offloaded to fund a deal for Real Madrid to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
However, the story says that is not the case and that Bale has been told that he has a place at Real Madrid next season.
Manchester United have been linked with a host of players this summer, but the Red Devils have so far only completed deals for Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
Mourinho will be hoping to lead his side to their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down back in 2013.
