Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Star is reporting that the Red Devils are finally close to tying up a deal for the 28-year-old after having been relentlessly linked with him this summer.

The Europa League winners are thought to be keen to bolster their attacking options as Jose Mourinho prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season, and Perisic fits the bill.

The same report states that talks between Manchester United and Inter Milan are still ongoing at agent level as Mourinho looks to clinch the signature of the Croatia international.

The story also claims that Mourinho is urging Ed Woodward to push through a deal, and that the Premier League club feel that progress is being made for a deal.

The article also claims that Mourinho wants to bring in Perisic ahead of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, who has also been linked with Manchester United in recent days.

The Red Devils will be hoping to mount a challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished sixth in the table last term.
