Joey Barton is tipping Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils have made a blistering start to the new campaign and secured their second successive 4-0 victory on Saturday when they thrashed Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Manchester United kicked off their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of West Ham United at Old Trafford earlier this month and their impressive form has placed them at the top of the Premier League table after two games.
Jose Mourinho’s men will look to make it three wins from three when they take on Leicester City at Old Trafford in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
And Barton is certain that the Red Devils have already established themselves as the clear favourites to win the title this season.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, Barton said: “They haven’t played anybody yet they shouldn’t be expected to beat but they’ve made an exceptional start.
“They’ve really strengthened that spine of the team. They already had a top goalkeeper, but they’ve strengthened in the central defensive area.
“Matic in the centre of midfield will help [Paul] Pogba show his talent, Lukaku will get 25 goals minimum this season.
“Then there’s that stat of [Jose] Mourinho always winning the league title in his second season in charge at a club.
“Whoever finishes above Manchester United wins the league.”
Manchester United are also preparing for a return to the Champions League next month after they won the Europa League under Jose Mourinho last term.
The Red Devils, who finished in sixth place last term, have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.
