Ian Wright has admitted that Manchester United fans are right to be excited about Jose Mourinho’s team.

Manchester United extended their 100 per cent start to the new campaign with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils were 4-0 winners against Swansea City in their second Premier League fixture of the new season to cement their status as genuine title contenders.

The visitors made the breakthrough in the first half at the Liberty Stadium thanks to Eric Bailly’s effort before late goals from Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial secured three points.

Mourinho’s men were 4-0 winners against West Ham in their opening top-flight fixture at Old Trafford to lay down a marker in the same weekend that Chelsea lost 3-2 to Burnley.

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down as manager in 2013, finishing in the top four once in four seasons.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes it is exciting times for Manchester United fans following their impressive performance against Swansea and West Ham.

“Manchester United will be attacking more [this season], Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Lukaku and Mkhitaryan have been freed up. You have to be excited about Manchester United because we’ve been waiting for a long time to see this.”

Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but still managed to win the EFL Cup and the Europa League.
