Jose Mourinho replies when asked if Man United are signing top 28-year-old
Jose Mourinho confirms that he wants Manchester United to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho has said that Manchester United will try to sign Gareth Bale if the Real Madrid star does become available this summer.
The Red Devils have long been linked with a possible move to try and bring the Wales international to Old Trafford in recent seasons.
That speculation has heightened this month amid claims that Real Madrid could be willing to cash in on Bale to fund a move to bring Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe to the club.
Mourinho has admitted that he doesn’t know if the speculation about Bale potentially leaving Real Madrid this summer is indeed true.
However, the Portuguese coach has revealed that he would definitely be interested in signing the 28-year-old if he does indeed become available.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of Manchester United’s Uefa Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on Monday night, Mourinho said: “If he is not in the club’s plans and it is true that a player like Bale is at the departure gate, I will try to be there waiting for him at the other side.”
Manchester United have signed three players so far this summer after having completed deals for Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic as Mourinho prepares for his second season at the club.
The Red Devils, who finished in sixth place last term, are now preparing for their Premier League opener against West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
