Michael Owen tips Man United to make more signings this summer
Michael Owen is still expecting to see Manchester United make a number of new signings this summer
Michael Owen says Jose Mourinho appears to be “intent” on signing more players for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been relatively active this summer so far after having tied up deals for three new stars ahead of Mourinho’s second campaign at the club.
Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic so far this summer as the Red Devils look to try and win the Premier League title next season.
However, Manchester United inevitably continue to be linked with a host of other players this summer as they gear up for the new season.
And former striker Owen believes that the Red Devils are still in the market for more signings this summer.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Express, Owen said: “Mourinho seems intent on buying more and more players.
“Matic is very much a signing for Mourinho’s time, his birthday was this week [he turned 29], it’s not an investment for 10 years down the line, he’s buying something for the next four or five years.
“There’s a signal of intent, it’s the here and the now that’s important for them as well as the future in buying someone like Lukaku .
“But they’ve strengthened again, they needed to. They were well off the pace last season and definitely expect a better season off United this year.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch Uefa Super Cup clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday night as they look to win the first trophy on offer to them this season.
The Red Devils will then turn their attentions towards their Premier League opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford next weekend.
