Nemanja Matic is convinced that Manchester United will be able to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Serbian midfielder completed his transfer to the Old Trafford outfit from Chelsea on Monday after weeks of speculation linking him with a switch to Manchester United.

Matic moved to the Red Devils after it became clear that his first-team opportunities at Chelsea would have been limited next season after the Blues brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

Now, Matic will be focused on helping the Red Devils to enjoy a successful season under Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese coach prepares for his second campaign at the club.

And the 29-year-old feels sure that Manchester United will be able to challenge for the Premier League title next season, despite them having finished sixth in the table last term.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Matic said: “As a member of the team, I think we can do many things. I’m sure that we will try to win the Premier League.

“Also, the Champions League, you never know what can happen.

“In the Champions League, everything is possible, [there are] many good teams, the best teams in Europe so Manchester is one of the best for sure and it’s very, very difficult to make a plan before the season starts but we will try to win every game, if it is possible.”

Manchester United are also gearing up for their return to the Champions League after they won the Europa League last term.

The Red Devils also won the EFL Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign at the club.
