Martin Keown predicts where Man United will finish this season
Martin Keown is backing Manchester United to finish in the top four and challenge for the title this season
Martin Keown is backing Manchester United to seal a top-four finish in the Premier League this season and challenge for the title – as long as Romelu Lukaku hits top form.
The Red Devils are preparing for their second season under new manager Jose Mourinho following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s permanent successor at Old Trafford in May 2016.
Manchester United’s form in the Premier League last season left a lot to be desired, with Mourinho’s men struggling to produce consistent performances and eventually ending up sixth in the table.
However, Mourinho managed to make it something of a successful debut campaign as he led the Red Devils to EFL Cup and Europa League glory.
Manchester United have strengthened their squad with the signings of Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Lukaku so far this summer.
And former Arsenal star Keown feels that Manchester United will be title contenders as long as Lukaku hits top form for Mourinho’s men next term.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Keown said: “If Lukaku fires, United will finish in the top four and challenge for the title.”
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
The Red Devils take on West Ham United at Old Trafford in their Premier League opener on Sunday.
