Nemanja Matic sends warning to Man United’s title rivals
Nemanja Matic is confident that Manchester United have what it takes to cope with the pressure of the title race
Nemanja Matic has told Manchester United’s Premier League rivals that the Red Devils are ready to handle the pressure in the title race this season.
The Premier League leaders notched up their second 4-0 victory of the season on Saturday when they beat Swansea City 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
That was Manchester United’s second win by the same scoreline after they kicked off their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of West Ham United at Old Trafford.
Matic has slotted seamlessly into the team at Manchester United after his arrival at Old Trafford from Chelsea as the Red Devils’ third signing of the summer earlier this month.
And the Serbia international feels that the Red Devils are ready to cope with the pressures of the title race this season.
Matic is quoted as saying by Metro: “In football there is always pressure.
“You can ask the players from Swansea and they will also feel the pressure because they have a lot of supporters who come to see them in every match.
“At Manchester United it’s always special when you play for this club. There is always pressure, but we are ready to cope with that.”
Manchester United are aiming to try and win the Premier League title this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement after the 2012-13 campaign.
The Red Devils, who finished in sixth place in the 2016-17 campaign, are also preparing for a return to the Champions League this term after their Europa League triumph under Jose Mourinho last season.
