Matt Le Tissier believes that Manchester United will end up second or third in the Premier League table next season.

The Red Devils are currently preparing for their second campaign under new boss Jose Mourinho following his appointment at Old Trafford last summer.

Manchester United’s form in the Premier League last term left a lot to be desired, with the Red Devils having finished sixth in the table after failing to perform consistently in the top flight.

Mourinho has already strengthened his team with the signings of Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku this summer as he prepares for the 2017-18 campaign.

However, former Southampton star Le Tissier believes that the Red Devils are likely to fall just short in the Premier League title race next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Le Tissier said: “I think they’ll have a strong season, maybe not as good as City. I’d go with second or third.”

Manchester United are also gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after the Red Devils won the Europa League last term.

Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea back in December 2015, also guided Manchester United to the EFL Cup and Community Shield in his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
