Thierry Henry sends clear message to Man United fans about Romelu Lukaku
Thierry Henry tells Romelu Lukaku that he still has plenty of room for improvement at Manchester United
Thierry Henry still believes that Romelu Lukaku must work on his movement off the ball despite the striker’s strong start to the season with Manchester United.
Lukaku, who signed for Manchester United from Everton back in July, found the net again as the Red Devils secured a thumping 4-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Belgian striker has now netted three goals in two games after his brace in the 4-0 win over West Ham earlier this month.
However, Henry – who coaches Lukaku as part of his role with the Belgian national team – believes that the striker still has to improve certain parts of his game, and is backing Jose Mourinho to bring out the best in him.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Saturday’s game in south Wales, Arsenal legend Henry said: “That’s [movement] something he needs to bring to his game. We all know what he can do.
“If you want to take it to another level at Man United – four goals in three official games is remarkable – it is about getting better. He will work on it, he’s with special players and he’s with [Jose] Mourinho.
“Mourinho will help him to develop that side of the game. We all know he has the one thing that’s most important, when you feed him in the box, he will score.”
Lukaku will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Leicester City in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford next weekend.
Manchester United are aiming to win the Premier League title this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
The Red Devils won both the Europa League and EFL Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last season.
