Steven Gerrard makes admission about new Man United signings
Steven Gerrard praise Jose Mourinho for the strong signings he has made at Manchester United this season
Steven Gerrard has admitted that he has been very impressed by Manchester United’s business in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have brought in three new players so far this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a team capable of winning the Premier League title this season.
Manchester United have signed defender Victor Lindelof, striker Romelu Lukaku and midfielder Nemanja Matic as they moved quickly to bolster their squad ahead of Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
Mourinho’s men have made a fine start to the new Premier League season, after having thrashed both West Ham United and Swansea City by a 4-0 scoreline in their opening two games.
And former Liverpool captain Gerrard has praised Mourinho for picking players who he feels have slotted seamlessly into the squad at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Premier League Tonight on BT Sport, Gerrard said: “I think the signings Mourinho has made really complement the people who were already there.
“Paul Pogba’s had a lift, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has Romelu Lukaku running into the channels.
“Nemanja Matic, because they’ve got so much pace, he steadies the ship and breaks everything up.”
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United’s summer spending is already over, or if Mourinho will still be able to bring in a fourth new player before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Manchester United, who are top of the Premier League table on goal difference, are now preparing for their top-flight clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
