Manchester United have been interested in Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann and Neymar this summer, according to Duncan Castles
Manchester United tried to sign Gareth Bale, Neymar and Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of top stars this summer, but they have only so far concluded deals to land three players.
Jose Mourinho has signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic so far as he prepares for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
However, according to reporter Castles, the Red Devils have also been involved in bids to try and bring some of Europe’s top talent to the club.
Castles says that Mourinho has made moves for Bale, Neymar and Greizmann this summer as he looks to build a team capable of winning the Champions League this term.
Speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “Antoine Griezmann he tried to get, Neymar he was involved in trying to persuade to come to Manchester United, he’s tried to get Gareth Bale.
“He obviously sees that Man United need more of that if he’s to make them what he’s expected to – contenders for the Champions League.”
Manchester United kicked off their Premier League campaign in style by beating West Ham United 4-0 at Old Trafford last weekend.
The Red Devils, who ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table last term, are now preparing for a trip to Swansea City in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday as they look to make it two wins from two in the top flight.
