Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United fans about signing top 28-year-old
Jose Mourinho seems to have conceded defeat in Manchester United's bid to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan
Jose Mourinho appears to have conceded defeat in Manchester United’s bid to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a bid to bring the Croatian winger to Old Trafford throughout the summer but a deal has failed to materialise.
It seems that the Italian club are intent on keeping hold of one of their star players as they prepare for the season under new manager Luciano Spalletti.
And Mourinho has admitted that the Serie A side made it very difficult for Manchester United to get their man this summer, as the Red Devils continue to search for their fourth signing before the new campaign.
Mourinho told Italian outlet Premium Sport as quoted by the Daily Mail: “That’s football. If I was playing against Inter tomorrow I’d want to win.
“They’re strong, they put up a good defence to keep someone who’s an important player for them. That’s football.”
Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup clash on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils will now have to dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Mourinho will be hoping that Manchester United will significantly improve their Premier League form this term after they finished fifth in the table last season.
However, they did secure a return to the Champions League by winning the Europa League, and they also won the EFL Cup last term.
