Thierry Henry delivers his verdict on latest Man United signing
Thierry Henry has his say on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's decision to stay at Manchester United for another season
Thierry Henry believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have his sights set on winning the Premier League this season after signing a new contract with Manchester United.
The 35-year-old forward penned a new one-year contract with the Red Devils on Thursday to extend his stay with Jose Mourinho’s men until the end of this season.
Ibrahimovic had been a free agent after being released by the Red Devils in the summer following his first season at the club, and after he suffered a serious knee injury.
However, the striker has now committed to stay with Mourinho’s men and try and help them fight for the Premier League title in his second campaign at the club.
And Arsenal legend Henry feels that Ibrahimovic will now be determined to try and taste success in the Premier League with the Red Devils as he brings the curtain down on his glittering career.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Henry said: “They kept Zlatan, but I think Zlatan takes it as a challenge that he has with himself. I think he wants to do more, and he still didn’t win the league.
“I know that he wants to win the Premier League, to make England another country that he conquered.”
“I’m not surprised, because if I was there [at Man United] I would want to keep a guy like Zlatan in and around the dressing room.”
Manchester United are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table after having beaten both West Ham United and Swansea City 4-0 in their opening two games.
The Red Devils are preparing to host Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday evening as they look to make it three wins from three.
