Mourinho confident Man United can sign world-class 28-year-old for less than £90m – report
The Manchester United manager believes Gareth Bale can be signed from Real Madrid for less than £90m, according to reports in Spain
Jose Mourinho is confident that Manchester United can sign Gareth Bale in a deal worth less than £90m, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Don Balon, as quoted by Daily Express, is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to move to sign Bale before deadline day despite initial speculation suggesting Manchester United would wait until next summer.
The same article states that Real Madrid no long believe the Wales international is capable of becoming Cristiano Ronaldo’s long-term successor in the Spanish capital.
As a result, los Blancos are willing to consider offers for Bale this summer ahead of the anticipated arrival of Kylian Mbappe in a big-money deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Ronaldo is not expected to leave Real Madrid despite his threats earlier this summer, while manager Zinedine Zidane wants to keep his compatriot Karim Benzema at the club.
Last month, Manchester United boss Mourinho ruled out the Europa League winners signing the 28-year-old this summer, adding that the Red Devils are aware Bale doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid.
The Welsh forward moved to Real Madrid in an £85.3m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Bale has scored 67 times in 150 games for los Blancos and has won three Champions League titles, La Liga and Copa del Rey.
