Pochettino wants to keep proven 27-year-old linked with Man United, claims insider
The Spurs boss wants to keep Danny Rose despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, according to Jason Burt
Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Danny Rose despite the Tottenham Hotspur defender hitting out against Spurs amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, according to Jason Burt.
The England international was critical of the north London side’s wage structure in a recent interview to fuel speculation linking the left-back with a summer move.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is thought to be interested in signing Rose to improve his left-back options given Luke Shaw’s well-documented struggles at Old Trafford.
Premier League champions Chelsea have been touted as another potential destination for the 27-year-old as Antonio Conte looks to improve his full-back options.
Rose’s former team-mate Kyle Walker signed a lucrative contract with Manchester City last month after the England right-back completed a £52m move from the north London club.
While Burt suggested that Pochettino won’t forget about Rose airing his dissent in the media, the Daily Telegraph reporter is convinced the Spurs boss wants to keep the England star – for now.
“Mauricio Pochettino won’t forget this. He will want Danny Rose to stay,” Burt told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Spurs didn’t factor in Danny Rose leaving this summer. They were always going to sell Kyle Walker… They have a little bit of a problem to manage for the next few weeks.”
Tottenham finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but ended up seven points adrift of eventual champions Chelsea.
Spurs are still waiting to make their first signing of the summer transfer window.
