Cristiano Ronaldo thought top 28-year-old was moving to Man United – report
Cristiano Ronaldo was convinced Gareth Bale was set to move to Manchester United in the summer, according to reports
Manchester United are waiting for a sign of encouragement from Gareth Bale or Real Madrid before making a move for the attacker, according to reports in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to launch an offer for the 28-year-old winger but are waiting to be given a sign that Bale is interested in a switch.
The same article states that former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo was convinced Bale was set to move to Old Trafford this summer.
However, according to the same story, the Wales international decided to commit to the Spanish club for another season as Bale looks to battle for a first-team spot under Zinedine Zidane.
Bale has already won two trophies in the 2017-18 season after Real Madrid beat Manchester United in the Uefa Super Cup and eased to a commanding 5-1 victory over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
The Real Madrid attacking midfielder moved to The Bernabeu in a £85.3m from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Manchester United have signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic so far this summer.
The Red Devils were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their opening Premier League fixture last weekend.
