Thierry Henry confident Man United will sign 28-year-old attacker
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry expects Man United to sign Gareth Bale if the forward calls time on his Real Madrid career this summer
Thierry Henry says he expects Manchester United to challenge for Gareth Bale’s signature if the Welsh winger decides to leave Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old attacker is facing an uncertain future at the Spanish champions after reports suggested Real Madrid want to sign AS Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Manager Zinedine Zidane is expected to sacrifice Bale, Karim Benzema or Cristiano Ronaldo to accommodate the France teenager in his starting line-up.
Bale appears the most likely candidate to be sacrificed in favour of the 18-year-old Monaco sensation to prompt talk of the Wales international returning to the Premier League.
Manchester United have been regularly linked with the former Tottenham Hotspur star since his then world-record move to Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho has already confirmed that he would be ready to move to sign Bale should the Real Madrid man make it known that he wants to leave The Bernabeu.
Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Henry believes Manchester United will be in pole position to add Bale to their squad should the Real Madrid star opt for a change this summer.
“We all know what Gareth Bale can do. Not only here [in the Premier League], but he’s doing it also at Real Madrid,” Henry told The Debate on Sky Sports on Monday night.
“So yes, if he leaves then I’m sure that [Manchester United] are going to try and buy him. If he comes, watch out everybody.”
Bale scored 21 times in 33 appearances in his final season in the Premier League to scoop the PFA player of the year award in 2013.
