The Red Devils have been linked with a deal to sign the Croatia international in the summer transfer window but have struggled to trash out a deal with Inter Milan.
Manchester United were thought to have made an offer to sign Perisic but the deal fell short of Inter Milan’s valuation of the 28-year-old attacking midfielder.
However, Inter boss Luciano Spaletti has admitted that the likelihood of the former Wolfsburg star leaving the San Siro is diminishing as the transfer window edges closer to its conclusion.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has taken to Twitter to shed light on Manchester United’s fading interest in the Croatian winger.
Solhekol wrote: “Sky Italy: Inter Milan preparing to offer Ivan Perisic new contract. No contact from Manchester United in last few days.”
Manchester United have made three signings in the summer transfer window so far as Mourinho prepares for their return to the Champions League.
The Red Devils have recruited Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Mourinho won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
