Gary Neville urges Jose Mourinho to make Man United signing to complete team
Manchester United need to sign a wide player before the close of the summer transfer window, Gary Neville says
Gary Neville believes Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho needs to sign a wide player to complete his new-look team.
The Red Devils eased to a comfortable 4-0 victory over West Ham United at Old Trafford to hoist themselves to the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku scored twice either side of half-time to put the Red Devils in command against the Hammers.
Jose Mourinho’s men extended their lead in the final five minutes of the Premier League clash thanks to efforts from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba.
Manchester United started England international Marcus Rashford in a wide role ahead of inconsistent 21-year-old Martial at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale in the summer transfer window so far.
Former Manchester United defender Neville pinpointed what area of Mourinho’s team needs improvement before transfer deadline day.
“I’d name a player similar to Arjen Robben – a wide player. [Marcus] Rashford did very well today but is he a wide player? Not really,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I’m talking about someone who can generally play left side. If you could add one world-class winger to add to the squad you could say it was a complete squad…they are covered everywhere, they have such strength.”
Manchester United signed Swedish defender Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica back in June.
The Red Devils spent £75m on Lukaku from Everton before Manchester United signed Nemanja Matic in a £40m transfer deal from bitter rivals Chelsea.
