Pundit tells Jose Mourinho where Man United need to make two signings
Kevin Kilbane says Manchester United need to add more pace to their team ahead of the start of the new Premier League season
Manchester United need to make two signings with real pace to help Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, Kevin Kilbane says.
The Red Devils are looking to improve their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League this season.
Manchester United have signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Everton striker Lukaku so far this summer.
Jose Mourinho has been unable to get a deal for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic despite reports the Croatia international wants to move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have also been linked with a move to sign Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale in the current transfer window.
However, the former Tottenham Hotspur forward insists he has no plans to leave the Spanish capital despite the transfer speculation.
Former Everton midfielder Kilbane believes Manchester United still need to bring in a couple of signings to add more pace to Mourinho’s team ahead of their return to the Champions League.
“Man United are a still few players short,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“Rashford and Lukaku bring in little but of pace but they still lack a bit of pace compared to the other teams.
“When they play the big sides and they’re exported to crush sides, Mourinho’s team will sit and the counter-attack will be key, so one or two players with real pace would be good for that side.”
Manchester United lost 2-1 to Champions League holders Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils will start their Premier League campaign with a home clash against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
