Arsenal legend claims to know Man United’s next top transfer target
John Hartson claims Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Kieran Tierney to Manchester United as his next signing
Celtic’s Kieran Tierney is Jose Mourinho’s next transfer priority for Manchester United, according to John Hartson.
The Red Devils have been linked with a whole host of players in the summer transfer window as Mourinho geared up for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
However, despite all of the speculation, Manchester United have so far only concluded deals for Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
They also concluded a deal to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year contract after having initially released him at the end of last season.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will bring in any more players before the close of the transfer window next Thursday.
However, former Arsenal star Hartson has claimed that Celtic left-back Tierney is Mourinho’s top target at the moment.
Hartson told the Scottish Football Podcast on BBC Sport: “I’m hearing he’s Manchester United’s number one target.
“But why on earth would Brendan Rodgers sell Tierney right now?
“If I’m Brendan Rodgers, I’m saying to Mourinho, ‘Let him have another season here, keep your £25-30m for now, he’s got Champions League football, he loves playing for Celtic’.”
Manchester United have made a flying start to the new season and are currently top of the Premier League table after their back to back 4-0 victories over West Ham United and Swansea City.
The Red Devils are now preparing to host Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday as they look to make it three wins from three.
