Man United will rival Tottenham to sign 17-year-old starlet, claims insider
Sky Sports News reporter Aidan Magee is reporting that Manchester United are competing with Tottenham to sign Ryan Sessegnon
Manchester United will rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon, according to Aidan Magee.
Spurs have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Fulham teenager over the past 12 months or so despite the full-back signing a new contract earlier in 2017.
Sessegnon put pen to paper on his first professional contract as the England Under-19 international extended his stay at the Cottagers until 2020.
The 17-year-old scored seven goals in 30 appearances in his first season in the Fulham first-team to prompt talk of interest from the Premier League.
Tottenham have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Fulham star as Mauricio Pochettino looks to sign a long-term successor to Danny Rose.
The England international has been linked with a potential move to Chelsea or Manchester United over the past couple of weeks.
However, the Red Devils are also reported to be interested Sessegnon as Jose Mourinho look to improve their left-back options following Luke Shaw’s disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.
“Sky sources are saying that Tottenham are contemplating a bid for Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon,” Magee told Sky Sports News on Monday.
“He can play at left wing-back as well. We’re also hearing that there is significant interest from the north-west and Manchester United.
“From Fulham’s perspective, only a bid that’s too good to refuse would be acceptable. If United signed him, they’d consider immediately loaning him back to the Championship club.
“Sky sources are telling us that Fulham are likely to stay strong, at least during this window.”
Tottenham lost 2-1 to defending champions Chelsea in the Premier League at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United have beaten West Ham and Swansea City in their opening two top-flight fixtures.
