Gary Neville singled out Marcus Rashford for special praise after Manchester United's 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday
Gary Neville praised Marcus Rashford for his performance after Manchester United’s 4-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The England international started the Red Devils’ first Premier League game of the season and played 80 minutes as Jose Mourinho’s men secured an impressive victory in front of their home fans.
Rashford notched up an assist as two goals from Romelu Lukaku and strikes from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial wrapped up a thumping victory for the Red Devils.
And former Manchester United defender Neville was clearly impressed by Rashford’s influence in the game, despite him making something of a quiet start.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “His influence on the first half wasn’t always there, Marcus Rashford. But it opened up for him in the second half. He was certainly a real threat down that side, counter-attacking and getting chances as well.”
The win lifted Manchester United to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference.
The Red Devils will now take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Manchester United have signed Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic so far this summer but continue to be linked with a host of other players before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
