Manager replies when asked if Italy midfielder is signing for Chelsea
Chelsea could be set to make a move to sign Antonio Candreva this summer, according to Luciano Spalletti
Luciano Spalletti has admitted that Chelsea could still make a move to sign Antonio Candreva from Inter Milan this summer.
The Blues have been credited with an interest in signing the 30-year-old midfielder in recent days as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his squad ahead of the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Chelsea have already signed four players so far this summer but Conte is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings to further bolster his squad.
Now, Spalletti has insisted that he wants to keep Candreva at the club but admits that Chelsea could still make a move to try and sign him.
Spalletti is quoted as saying by Metro: “My position is to keep him and the club agrees with me, for now he has not shown any other signals,’ said Spalletti.
“We go forward calmly, then I don’t know what could happen tomorrow.
“As far as I can tell, Chelsea could try to do something. You are the ones who always anticipate these situations, so I should ask you.”
Chelsea picked up their first Premier League points of the season on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
It was a welcome result for the defending champions, who had found themselves under pressure following their shock 3-2 loss to Burnley in their Premier League opener.
Chelsea now turn their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge next Sunday afternoon as they look to win in front of their home fans for the first time this season.
