Anthony Martial has warned his Manchester United team-mates that they are in for a stern test of their credentials when they take on Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup in Macedonia on Tuesday night.

Europa League winners Manchester United are set to take on Champions League holders Real Madrid in the European curtain raiser for the 2017-18 campaign.

Manchester United will be hoping to get their season off to a winning start when they take on the Spanish champions on Tuesday night.

But Martial has warned his team-mates that they are in for a tough test when they take on the La Liga outfit.

Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Martial said: “It’s going to be a tough match.

“It has been up to us to prepare ourselves for it during these friendly matches, and to be ready to take home this title to Manchester. We are all looking forward to it.”

Manchester United secured their return to the Champions League for this season despite missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League last term, thanks to their Europa League win.

The Red Devils, who also won the EFL Cup last term, have brought in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic so far this summer as Jose Mourinho prepares his team for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
