Michael Owen states his prediction for Stoke v Arsenal
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to beat Stoke City in their Premier League clash at The Britannia on Saturday
Michael Owen is confident that Arsenal will extend their winning run at Stoke City on Saturday.
The Gunners made a thrilling start to the 2017-18 Premier League campaign last week after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud scored late goals to overturn Leicester’s lead and secure three points to get the new campaign of to a winning start.
Arsene Wenger’s side will make the trip to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday evening in search of back-to-back Premier League wins.
Traditionally, Arsenal have struggled at Stoke since the Potters were promoted to the Premier League in 2007-08 season.
But the Gunners have won four of their last five games against Stoke to give the north London side a slight edge ahead of Saturday’s meeting.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing Arsenal to beat Stoke and keep pace with their title rivals on Saturday evening.
“Arsenal have won four of their last five Premier League games against the Potters and I think they can add to that tally in the late kick off on Saturday,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Olivier Giroud’s excellent winning goal against Leicester was his 99th in an Arsenal shirt and I think the Gunners will have too much in the attacking third for Mark Hughes’s side who posed little as an attacking threat at Goodison Park on Saturday.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
The Gunners have signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The north London beat Chelsea on penalties to win the Community Shield earlier this month.
