Michael Owen predicts where Tottenham will finish next season
Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham to miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League next season
Michael Owen is expecting to see Tottenham miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.
The north London side were one of the top-flight’s most consistent teams last term as they pushed Chelsea for the Premier League title but eventually ended up in second place, behind Antonio Conte’s champions.
Spurs have earned plenty of new admirers for their style of play in the last two years, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men having come close to the title in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Tottenham will be hoping to go one step further this season as they look to win the Premier League title.
However, the Lilywhites will be playing their home games at Wembley for next season while the finishing touches are made to their new stadium at White Hart Lane.
Spurs are also currently the only Premier League side not to have signed any new players this summer ahead of the new campaign.
And former Liverpool striker Owen is backing the Lilywhites to be the team to drop out of the top four this term.
Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Owen said: “Tottenham Hotspur are a side I really rate.
“I have been impressed with Mauricio Pochettino since his move into the Premier League and he has assembled a strong squad, but they have lost a world-class full-back in Kyle Walker and not added.
“Their home form was near perfect last season and the move to Wembley will affect that.”
Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle next weekend.
