Gary Lineker reacts to Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Watford
Gary Lineker took to social media to react to another goal-fest as Liverpool drew 3-3 with Watford on Saturday
Gary Lineker joked that he would have to extend Match of the Day on Saturday night after Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Reds twice fell behind but battled back into a winning position twice, before having to settle for a point from their opening Premier League encounter of the new season.
The result followed Arsenal’s entertaining 4-3 win over Leicester City at The Emirates on Friday night.
And Lineker took to Twitter as events unfolded at Vicarage Road on Saturday lunchtime.
Lineker wrote: “Blimey! 12 goals in 2.5 hours football. Might need to extend @BBCMOTD tonight.”
And as the second half unfolded, Lineker jokingly added: “25 minutes now without scoring. Dreadful goal drought.”
Meanwhile, former Liverpool star John Arne Riise was clearly pleased about how the second half unfolded at Vicarage Road, as he posted the following update on Twitter: “Boom!! 3-2 Liverpool! Salah!! Great work by Firmino.”
Sadio Mane levelled for Liverpool in the 29th minute after Stefano Okaka had put the home side ahead early on.
However, Watford were soon in front once again when Abdoulaye Doucoure fired home to make it 2-1 to the home side at half-time.
But Liverpool battled back once again and went ahead thanks to Roberto Firmino’s penalty and Mohamed Salah’s first Premier League goal for his new club.
But Watford had the final say when Miguel Britos levelled deep into second-half stoppage time.
Liverpool, who finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season, will now turn their attentions to the first leg of their Champions League play-off clash against Hoffenheim on Tuesday night.
