Arsenal fans sent clear message about Aaron Ramsey
Danny Murphy heaps praise on Aaron Ramsey following his strong display for Arsenal against Chelsea
Aaron Ramsey was clearly Arsenal’s man of the match against Chelsea on Sunday and the midfielder deserved plenty of praise for his performance, according to Danny Murphy.
The Wales midfielder was heavily criticised for his below-par performance as Arsenal slumped to a demoralising 4-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool in the Premier League before the international break.
However, Ramsey produced a much-improved performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Arsene Wenger’s men managed to earn a point against their local rivals in west London.
Ramsey was named as the man of the match as Arsenal managed to keep the Premier League champions at bay at Stamford Bridge.
And former Liverpool midfielder Murphy was delighted by what he saw from Ramsey during the Premier League clash against Antonio Conte’s men.
Murphy told BBC Radio 5 live: “I could have picked six of them [Arsenal] for Man of the Match, but I want to look at Aaron [Ramsey].
“He took a lot of criticism from the defeat at Liverpool for a lack of discipline.
“He’s a brilliant attacking midfielder and he scores big goals no doubt about that.
“I thought his decision-making was excellent – he knew when to go forward and when he was in good possession, to vacate the space and see if his mate was protecting him.
“You can’t take away his attacking instincts, but choose to make sure when he does it.”
Ramsey will be expecting to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Monday with a home clash against West Brom at The Emirates.
The north London side are aiming to climb the Premier League table this season after losing two of their opening five top flight games.
Wenger’s men finished fifth in the table last season but won the FA Cup by beating Chelsea in the final back in May.
