Antonio Conte believes that Arsenal can still end up as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season.

The north London side have made something of a stuttering start to the new campaign under Arsene Wenger after suffering two defeats in their first four Premier League games.

However, Arsenal have bounced back to winning ways in recent days with victories over Bournemouth and Cologne in the build-up to their crunch clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Wenger has already found himself under intense pressure at The Emirates after his side lost to Stoke and were then thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool before the international break.

However, Conte feels that the Gunners have the necessary quality to be able to challenge for the Premier League title this season under Wenger.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Cobham on Friday, Conte said: “They are a big rival, if you see their squad they have a lot of top players.

“I don’t understand why they can’t fight for the title, they lost only one player [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool] but kept all the rest. They have many top players.”

Chelsea are preparing to host Arsenal after having won their last three Premier League games and following their 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag on Tuesday night in their Champions League opener at Stamford Bridge.

The west London side are aiming to defend their Premier League title this season and also challenge for the Champions League crown.
