Gary Neville: Why I’m delighted for Arsenal
Gary Neville was thrilled to see Arsenal produce an improved performance against Chelsea on Sunday
Gary Neville has insisted that he was “delighted” to see Arsenal produce a much improved performance and earn a draw from their clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
The Gunners more than held their own against the defending champions on Sunday afternoon as Arsene Wenger’s man took home a point following their goalless draw at Stamford Bridge.
It was Arsenal’s first away point of the season after they were widely criticised for their defeats by Stoke City and Liverpool before the international break.
Wenger’s men produced a much more disciplined performance against the Blues as they battled with the defending champions at Stamford Bridge.
And former Manchester United defender Neville admits that he was delighted to see the Gunners improve their discipline against the west London side on Sunday.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Neville said: “What Arsenal did was show some respect at Stamford Bridge and they got the result because of that.
“I was actually delighted to see it because we’ve been crying out for it for many months as they were too open.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action next Monday night with a home clash against West Brom at The Emirates.
The north London side, who finished in fifth place last term, are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
Despite their lack of Premier League success, Arsenal have won the FA Cup in three of the last four seasons.
