Ian Wright explains why Arsenal signing needs more minutes
The Arsenal legend believes the Gunners are a more dangerous team with Alexandre Lacazette in their XI
Ian Wright has urged Arsene Wenger to keep faith with Arsenal record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners signed Lacazette in a £52m record deal from Ligue 1 side in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old scored on his Premier League debut in a 4-3 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Lacazette’s effort at Stoke City was ruled out due to offside as Arsenal lost 1-0 to the Potters at bet365 Stadium.
Wenger made the bizarre decision to leave Lacazette on the bench for the north London side’s 4-0 loss at Liverpool.
The Gunners striker started last Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge but Wenger took off the striker with 30 minutes to go.
Former Arsenal striker Wright questioned why Wenger made the bizarre decision to remove Lacazette given his obvious goal-scoring threat.
“I like having Lacazette in the team. You feel if there are chances flying around, he’ll take one,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
The Gunners will host West Brom in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night in search of three points after their title rivals all won over the weekend.
Lacazette netted 100 goals in 201 appearances in Ligue 1 during his Lyon career before securing his big-money move to the north London side.
Arsenal signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
