Arsene Wenger believes that Alexandre Lacazette still has some work to do in order to adapt to the physical nature of the Premier League.

The French striker has made a positive start to life at The Emirates since joining the north London side from Lyon in a club-record transfer deal back in July.

Lacazette has scored two goals in five Premier League games for Arsenal so far this term and has started four of the Gunners’ top flight matches.

The forward has been a consistent performer so far this term, but Wenger believes that the 26-year-old still has some way to go before he is fully adapted to the rigours of English football.

Wenger told a news conference on Thursday morning: “I believe that he has adapted to the team play, to the way we want to play football.

“He connects well with the other players, he’s disciplined, he works hard for the team. On the tactical and technical aspects I’m very pleased.

“He still needs to adapt to the physical aspects of the Premier League and that will take maybe a little bit of time.

“But overall on the other fronts there is no problem at all. I’m very happy.”

Lacazette will be hoping to start for the north London side when the Gunners take on West Brom at The Emirates on Monday Night.

The Gunners head into this weekend’s round of fixtures looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after having been held to a goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.

The north London side finished fifth last season and won the FA Cup under Wenger last season.
