Thomas Lemar has broken his silence by insisting that he is happy at Monaco after Arsenal’s reported late bid to try and since the French attacker on transfer deadline day.

The 21-year-old’s future was a relentless source of speculation throughout the summer transfer window after he was heavily linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool were credited with an interest in the midfielder during the summer months but neither of the Premier League sides were able to complete a deal for Lemar.

Arsenal were reported to have made a club-record £92m bid to sign Lemar on transfer deadline day but a move failed to materialise.

Now, the player himself has spoken out after the relentless uncertainty about his future at the north London club.

Lemar told Canal+ in France: “I am a Monaco player and I am very happy there,’ Lemar told Canal Plus.

“Now I am going to go and have a good season with my club, try to keep progressing and advancing in my career.”

Arsenal only signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looked to bolster his squad.

It remains to be seen whether Lemar could secure a transfer to the Premier League in the future.

Arsenal are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table after a stuttering start to the new season.

The Gunners will take on Bournemouth in their next game at The Emirates next Saturday afternoon.
