Arsene Wenger optimistic key Arsenal duo will sign contract extensions
The Arsenal boss is still hoping Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will sign new deals with the north London club

Arsene Wenger is quietly optimistic that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could still sign contract extensions at Arsenal.
The Gunners duo have both entered the final 12 months of their current deals with the north London club.
Sanchez attracted plenty of interest in the summer transfer window from the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.
Manchester City headed up Premier League interest in the 28-year-old attacker but a deal fell through on Thursday’s deadline day.
Arsenal looked to sign Monaco forward Thomas Lemar as a replacement for Sanchez before allowing the Chile international to move to their title rivals.
However, Lemar turned down the Gunners and Sanchez remained at the north London club until January at the earliest.
Speaking to beIN Sports about the future of Ozil and Sanchez, Wenger insisted that the Arsenal duo could still sign new deals with the FA Cup holders.
“Alexis Sanchez will go, like Mesut Ozil, in the final year of his contract or you think during the season you will find a way to extend the contract or at the end of the season the players go for free,” Wenger said.
Arsenal signed Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer transfer window.
Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac has also completed a free transfer to the north London club from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
The Gunners have already lost to Stoke City and Liverpool in the Premier League campaign so far.
