Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Brighton
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Arsenal's clash with Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to claim a 2-0 victory over Brighton in the Premier League at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners head into the game fresh from their 4-2 victory over BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday night as they made it two wins from two in the competition.
Arsenal also returned to winning ways in the Premier League last week with a 2-0 win over West Brom at The Emirates.
The Gunners head into this weekend’s round of games in seventh place in the Premier League table and six points behind joint leaders Manchester United and Manchester City.
And Lawrenson is not expecting Arsene Wenger’s men to have any problems against Brighton in front of their home fans on Sunday afternoon.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Brighton deserved their win over Newcastle last weekend but it is hard to see them getting anything at the Emirates.
“The Seagulls will sit in – but that is not a problem for Arsenal because they have got so many players who are good on the ball.
“It is when teams have a go at them that the Gunners wobble a bit, and that is not something I think Brighton will do much of.”
Arsenal are aiming to improve their Premier League form significantly this season after they ended up fifth in the table last term.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign, when they were still playing their home games at Highbury.
However, Wenger did lead Arsenal to the FA Cup last season, securing their third triumph in four seasons.
