Arsene Wenger explains why Arsenal can expect big season from 26-year-old striker

Arsene Wenger is tipping Danny Welbeck to have a big season for Arsenal.
The England international scored twice in the north London side’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Arsenal striker has already found the net three times in four games to outscore the Gunners’ club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
Welbeck has endured a string of injury problems since moving to the north London club in a £16m deal from Manchester United in 2014.
The 26-year-old forward has 20 times in 74 games in all competitions in three seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Arsenal striker has made a promising start to the 2017-18 season with the 2018 World Cup in Russia on the horizon.
And Gunners boss Wenger expects Welbeck to have a big season with his confidence growing.
“I’m pleased with his performance, I kept faith in him and overall I think he is getting stronger and stronger and more confident,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.
“Confidence plays a big part in his game and I loved his finishing on his second goal.”
Welbeck will be hoping to claim a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Arsenal have lost two of their opening four Premier League games following a 1-0 defeat at Stoke City and a 4-0 humiliation at Liverpool.
The Gunners signed Lacazette in a £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer transfer window.
Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac has also joined the north London club on a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
