Arsenal told why they have no chance of beating Chelsea
Danny Murphy explains why Arsenal are unlikely to beat Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday
Danny Murphy believes that Chelsea are on course to beat “naive” Arsenal in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The north London side have made a stuttering start to the new season under Arsene Wenger after losing two of their opening four Premier League games to leave them with six points from a possible 12.
Arsenal were beaten by Stoke and then thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool before the international break to heap pressure on Wenger despite it being so early in the season.
The Gunners have bounced back with recent victories over Bournemouth and Cologne in the Europa League on Thursday night.
However, former midfielder Murphy believes that the Gunners basically have no chance of beating Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in west London.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Murphy said: “The way Arsenal are playing and how open they are, it is difficult to see them having a prayer at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“If Alexis Sanchez is on the pitch then they can beat anybody.
“But Arsenal are tactically so naive that unless Arsene Wenger plays with a different mentality, and shuts up shop a little bit, then they cannot beat the likes of Chelsea away from home because they are too open.”
Chelsea head into the game in good form, after having wrapped up victories over Tottenham, Everton and Leicester in the Premier League.
The west London side, who won the title last season under Antonio Conte, also kicked off their Champions League campaign in style with a 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal finished fifth and won the FA Cup last term under Wenger, beating Chelsea in the Wembley final back in May.
