Michael Owen believes Chelsea are slight favourites to beat Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

The Citizens are sitting at the top of the Premier League table after six games thanks to a return of 21 goals and four clean sheets in the 2017-18 campaign so far.

Manchester City were 5-0 winners against Crystal Palace last weekend on the back of a 6-0 victory at Watford to lay down a marker in what promises to be an entertaining title race.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have bounced back from a 3-2 loss to Burnley on the opening day of the season to go unbeaten in their last five games and move to within three points of Manchester City.

Antonio Conte’s side produced one of the best performances of the season from any English club after the Blues came from behind to win 2-1 at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Former Liverpool striker Owen doesn’t believe Manchester City deserve to be priced so short to beat Chelsea on Saturday afternoon and in fact considers the Blues to be slight favourites.

“What a game in store as Champions-elect Manchester City travel to Stamford Bridge to face Champions Chelsea in a huge game at the top of the Premier League,” Owen told BetVictor.

“City have been flawless at times this season, netting 29 goals in their opening 9 games in all competitions, last month’s 1-1 draw with Everton the sole blip on an otherwise perfect start to the campaign.”

Owen added: “Nevertheless, Chelsea shouldn’t be underestimated on home soil and look too big at 15/8 with BetVictor. Antonio Conte did a tremendous job with the Blues last season, leading the club to the Title in his maiden season in English football.

“This will undoubtedly serve as Pep Guardiola’s stiffest task this season thus far and I’m not convinced they should be as short as 7/5 to leave West London with all three points.”

Chelsea are looking to win their third Premier League title in four seasons and back-to-back top-flight crowns under Conte.
