Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed his delight at how well Alvaro Morata has started his career at Chelsea.

The Spanish striker signed for the Blues from Real Madrid back in July as Antonio Conte moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at Stamford Bridge.

Morata has been in fine form so far this season and has scored six goals in six Premier League outings while also making two assists for his team-mates in the top flight.

There had been questions about how long Morata would take to adapt to the rigours of English football but the 24-year-old appears to have been settling in well at Stamford Bridge so far.

And Azpilicueta has been delighted by how well his Spain team-mate has begun his career in west London.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday before the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, Azpilicueta said: “I think he has adapted really well to our team, to the way we play.

“Since he came he has been a big part of the team, he has scored six goals and I am happy for him.

“His work has been rewarded with goals, which is what strikers want most.”

Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

The west London side are currently third in the table but know that victory over the Citizens would move them level on points with Pep Guardiola’s men after seven games of the new season.
