Andriy Shevchenko admits he’s been surprised by Alvaro Morata at Chelsea
Andriy Shevchenko discusses Alvaro Morata's start to life at Chelsea since signing from Real Madrid
Andriy Shevchenko has admitted that he has been surprised by how quickly Alvaro Morata seems to have settled into life at Chelsea following his transfer from Real Madrid in the summer.
The Spanish striker arrived at Stamford Bridge in July after Antonio Conte moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at the west London club.
Morata has earned plenty of praise for the strong start to life he has made at the west London club and he continued his fine form on Saturday when he netted a hat-trick to fire Chelsea to a 4-0 win over Stoke City.
Shevchenko knows a thing or two about being a striker at Chelsea and the former Ukraine international has delivered his verdict on Morata’s start to life in west London.
Shevchenko is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “I’ve been surprised by how well Morata has settled in with his team-mates. He knows Pedro very well, and Eden Hazard is his type.
“Morata is very good in the box and scores goals. Chelsea create many chances around the box, crosses come in from the left and the right and he is very clinical in finishing around the area.
“It is a good sign for him to be successful.”
Chelsea return to Champions League action on Wednesday night when they take on Atletico Madrid in Spain.
The Blues kicked off their European campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month.
Saturday’s thumping victory over Stoke left Chelsea in third place in the Premier League table, having taken 13 points from their opening six games in the top flight.
