Antonio Conte has admitted that he is hoping that Charly Musonda can develop into a top player at Chelsea in the seasons to come.

The 20-year-old will be aiming to impress Conte on the training pitches at Cobham this season as he looks to try and break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Conte has been keeping a close eye on Musonda’s progress in recent weeks and the Italian manager seems to have been impressed by what he has seen from the youngster.

Conte told a news conference on Tuesday: “We’re talking about a young player with really good prospects.

“Now it’s important that he’s working very well.

Chelsea return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues currently find themselves in third place in the Premier League table in the wake of their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Chelsea are looking to defend their Premier League title this season after having won the trophy in impressive fashion under Conte last term.

The Blues, who missed out on a place in Europe altogether last season, made their return to the group stage of the Champions League last week when they secured a thumping 6-0 win over Qarabag at Stamford Bridge.
