Eden Hazard was clearly sad to see Diego Costa leave Chelsea and join Atletico Madrid last week

Eden Hazard has taken to social media to pay tribute to Diego Costa after his transfer from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid was confirmed last week.

Costa had been heavily linked with a move away from the west London club throughout the summer and he finally was granted his wish when the Blues agreed to sell the striker back to the Spanish club.

The forward will not be able to play for the Spanish side until January due to the club’s transfer ban and that means he won’t line up against Chelsea in the Champions League clash on Wednesday night.

However, Hazard is clearly a keen admirer of the Spain international and the Belgium star used his personal Instagram account to pay tribute to Costa after his exit was confirmed.

Hazard posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “¡Gracias por todo @diego.costa! Thank you for the last 3 years my friend, it’s been a pleasure to play with you!! ⚽️#cfc”

Chelsea return to Champions League action on Wednesday when they travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid.

Alvaro Morata netted an impressive hat-trick as Chelsea secured a thumping 4-0 win over Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon to keep them in third place in the table.

Costa and Hazard both helped to fire Chelsea to the Premier League title last season under Antonio Conte.
