Glenn Hoddle likens Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata to Tottenham star
Glenn Hoddle discusses Alvaro Morata's strong start to life since his transfer from Real Madrid to Chelsea
Glenn Hoddle believes that Alvaro Morata and Harry Kane both have very similar styles of play.
The Spanish striker has hit the ground running at Chelsea since signing for the west London side from Real Madrid back in July as Antonio Conte moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at Stamford Bridge.
Morata has scored six goals in his first six Premier League games for the Blues and he hit an impressive hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Stoke at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
The 24-year-old appears to not be having any problems in adapting to the rigours of the Premier League after his move from the Spanish club.
And former Tottenham boss Hoddle feels that both Morata and Kane are very similar forwards in terms of their style of play.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Hoddle said: “Him and Harry Kane are all-round centre-forwards.
“He can head it, play off his left and right, and has great movement.
“I think they’re a better team with him in it, but stat wise we can’t judge him yet. He’s hit the road running, there’s no doubt about it.”
Kane has also made a strong start to the new Premier League season and has scored four goals in six top-flight games for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Morata will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a tricky clash against Atletico Madrid in Spain.
The Blues are currently third in the Premier League table.
