Thierry Henry says he has been impressed with Alvaro Morata’s performances for Chelsea in the 2017-18 season so far.

The Spain international moved to Premier League champions Chelsea in a £58m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Morata scored his first Chelsea hat-trick at Stoke City on Saturday as the striker’s treble helped the title holders ease to a 4-0 win at the bet365 Stadium.

The 24-year-old summer signing has already scored six goals in six games in the Premier League to silence his critics following his big-money move.

Morata will be hoping to make his first Chelsea start in the Champions League on Wednesday night when Antonio Conte’s men make the trip to Atletico Madrid.

The Blues will then host Premier League leaders Manchester City in their top of the table clash on Saturday evening in what will be a real test of Morata’s ability.

Former Arsenal striker Henry was particularly impressed with Morata’s opening goal in a 4-0 win at Stoke as the Premier League legend delivered a glowing verdict on the Spanish striker.

“He was short of games at the beginning [of the season], but he’s on point at the minute, really impressive,” Henry told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

“There was a thought process behind it [his opener at Stoke], I was at home and went ‘wow, what a goal’.”

Morata has won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid, while the Spanish forward finished as a runner-up in 2015.
