Antonio Conte delighted Chelsea have ‘amazing’ Eden Hazard back
The Chelsea manager is thrilled to have Eden Hazard available following the Belgian midfielder's long injury lay-off
Antonio Conte has welcomed Eden Hazard’s return to fitness ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Blues forward made his return to the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Hazard replaced Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas after goals from Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante put the defending champions in control of the Premier League clash.
The 26-year-old hasn’t featured for Chelsea since their final Premier League game of the 2016-17 season after Hazard broke his ankle on international duty back in May.
The Belgium international scored 16 goals and made seven assists in the top flight last term to help Antonio Conte’s side finish seven points clear in the title race.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Qarabag at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, Conte hailed the return of Hazard.
“He is an amazing player, we are looking forward to having him on our squad,” Conte said.
“He is an important player for us, we are forced to play without him through injury. We tried to win every game.”
Hazard has won two Premier League titles in three seasons under Jose Mourinho and Conte.
The Belgian forward moved to Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Lille in 2012 following Chelsea’s Champions League success.
Chelsea have won three of their opening four Premier League games this term.
